14 June 2010 – Pekerti will hold a handicraft bazaar at its Jakarta office from tomorrow until Thursday.
The bazaar will give Indonesian consumers a rare chance to buy Fairtrade.
Proceeds from the bazaar will go to Pekerti to allow it to continue its work supporting rural Fairtrade handicraft producers through marketing and training.
Pekerti’s Director Mochamad Ichwani said Pekerti’s regular bazaars help spread the word about Fairtrade in Indonesia.
“It is a contribution,” said Pak Ichwani.
“The Fairtrade movement in Indonesia is just developing. But events like this do help to move it along.”
Toys, homewares, games and traditional Indonesian batik products will be available at the bazaar.
Pekerti will hold a handicraft bazaar at its office at Jl. Waru 21A Rawamangun, Jakarta Timur 13220, from 9am-3pm, 15-17 June. For more information please contact pekerti@pekerti.com or telephone 0214 786 3008.
